About me
These values are the cornerstones of success not only in the field of top-class sport. I also try to achieve the maximum for my clients on the basis of these values every day. Thereby it helps me to be able to unite my profession with my passion for sport, especially for football.
From an early age, I was attracted to combe this passion with my professional activities, which is why I was already part of a boutique law firm specialising in sports law during my legal education and worked in the legal department of a national football league team. After my admission to the bar, I gained further valuable experience in a Munich consultancy boutique, successfully supporting clubs and associations in particular in enforcing and protecting their rights in and out of court.
Through my pragmatic and solution-oriented advisory approach, my strategic approach as well as through fast and reliable legal advice, I am able to create real added value for my clients.
Sports law as a legal cross-section of various fields of law such as labour law, corporate law, commercial law, administrative law, criminal law and European law is one of my main areas of expertise. Due to my many years of passionate activity as a team sportsman as well as the professional experience I have gained so far, I am able to master the field of tension inherent in sports law between state law and the autonomously created regulatory frameworks of sport (association law, sports courts, etc.) and thus develop optimal solutions for my clients. As a lawyer for sports law, I advise and represent individual athletes, coaches and officials as well as clubs, associations and sponsors. My range of services includes in particular
General contract drafting in sports (sports employment contracts, sports service contracts, trainer contracts, sponsoring contracts)
Litigation before state and association courts (national/international)
Legal protection in cases of violation of personal rights
Law of player placement (esp. transfer law)
Defence in proceedings under sports criminal law (suspensions, fines etc.)
The law of associations and federations deals with the foundation, organisation, administration and management of clubs and federations in Germany and, as a significant component of sports law, constitutes a further focus of my law firm's advisory services. In the context of my previous work as a lawyer, I was able to accompany several clubs and associations as a kind of outsourced legal department, which is why I am familiar with both the internal processes of clubs and associations as well as the legal challenges in the context of club and association activities. My range of services includes in particular
Foundation advice (esp. drafting of articles of association, drafting of minutes, structural advice)
Drafting and reviewing statutes, rules of procedure and regulatory measures
(Extra)judicial advice and representation before association courts and state courts in disputes between executive bodies and challenges to resolutions
Advice on liability risks of the board and other association officers
Drafting of contracts (in particular board contracts, trainer contracts, etc.)
Non-profit status, donation relief (esp. recognition of non-profit status by the tax office)
Outsourcing of business operations to non-profit or commercial limited liability companies (GmbH)
Management and legal support of general meetings
The freedom of contract, which is protected not only in Germany, basically allows everyone to conclude contracts that can be freely determined with regard to both the contractual partner and the subject matter of the contract. In this context, the law provides the legal framework for the user of the law in which this freedom of contract can be developed. It is not only in the field of sport that a large number of often economically extremely relevant contracts are concluded every day, which is why contract law has an impact on every conceivable field of law. Contract law is thus fundamental to German civil law and decisive for a multitude of legal constellations that affect almost everyone - in a sales contract, in the context of an employment or tenancy relationship, in travel or in sports. My previous experience in various fields of law enables me to identify dangers and risks in the context of drafting contracts and enforcing rights and thus to exclude contractual liability traps as early as possible, to anticipate later disputes about unclear or incomplete provisions and to strategically enforce outstanding claims.
Drafting and reviewing contracts (e.g. purchase agreements, contracts for work and services, rental agreements, loan agreements or brokerage agreements)
Drafting general terms and conditions
Examination of the possibilities of cancelling contracts by rescission, avoidance or termination
Enforcement and defence of injunctive relief and claims for damages
Enforcement of contractual claims in and out of court and assertion of warranty and guarantee claims
